Stalled

Oh dear. When I started this blog a few months back I had intentions of doing interviews, video how-tos, tips and tricks and a whole bunch of stuff.  That kinda hasn’t happened  unfortunately. The Burlesque Noir video is half way edited and was supposed to be done in May before the Greatest Tits show. But well, Paul ( who is a fantastic editor) got really busy. I suck at editing. So, it sits unfinished. I hope it gets finished.

I had LOTS of ideas in April. Right before I quit I knew the direction I wanted to go in. Now that direction has gone somewhere and I have no clue where it’s going. It’s organic. I’m gonna let it evolve to where it needs and wants to go.

Other things have gotten in the way.  I know I’m not alone when you decide to move it pretty much consumes a lot of your time and energy. After this month is over I hope to get back to creation and getting off of my ass and lining up some performances.

I really want and need to perform. I really need to get to work on that. I’m so much better at performing than I am at working.

I feel like Starbuck. I’m only good at one thing. Other things I frak up.

But, we are both badass. kara thrace

So, never fear. I will get this more off the ground so next, I will never work for anybody else but myself. Working for someone else is for suckers.

Showtime's Live Nude Comedy

Hosted by Shannon Elizabeth.

A new show featuring comedy and burlesque.

Two things that make me go “hmmm”; 1) The lack of variety of dancers. Pale skinny white girls, yawn.

2) Andy Dick. Nuff said.

Have to give it a watch though. Maybe frakking hilarious.

One month to go!

That’s right. One month to get my butt in gear for Burlesque Noir’s Greatest Tits show on May 23rd at the Launchpad.  I’ll be returning to the burlesque stage and hopefully make an ass out of myself (natch).  I am confident with the solo I have choreographed. I just need to practice and practice. The costuming needs to be worked on.  I’m still looking for that one accessory to push it over the top.  There’s only so much glitter can do.  I want to make a nice fascinator and matching clips to go on my shoes.  Methinks a trip to Hobby Lobby I should take.  I wish Vitas was here to help.  He’s pretty fucking fierce!

Boston Burlesque 2009 “ The Main Event”

Check it out! Holly Rebelle posted a video montage of the Boston Burlesque Main Event! You can see Burlesque Noir performing in the clip. There is also a good explanation of what burlesque is.  I’d just like to state, that I bump to front.

Choreography: You be a pain in my ass

It's easier for me to choreograph a burlesque piece because: I don't have to be serious.
I don't have to have a lot of moves. Keep it simple. Keep it sexy/sassy. Keep it silly.
It's harder for me to choreograph a belly dance piece because: Every fucking steps wants to allude me when I start to choreograph. I can walk around and figure out moves, but put them to music and everything leaks out of my brain. Errrrr.
I'm trying to keep it simple as well. Three steps, repeat in any order. Smile. Mmmm. I'm taking fucking classes. Come on! I know dance steps. Why won't you come out of my head. Why do I only remember the egyptain walks?

The only way I can really hammer down the steps is to sit with mu ipod and write, rewind, write and rewind and write to get something out. Then go about practicing the moves, adding or subtracting as needed.

What are the ways you figure out your choreography?
